$99dollermusicvideos is a you tube channel where it has channels, playlists, new music videos and a section where people can discuss and share the opinions it allows up and coming artist to raise awareness to the audience. The target audience is aimed at teenagers from 13-19 also the have no aimed races they aim at all races.
There ethos is to believe in collaboration between the filmmakers and the artist/band also there giving a global platform to low-fi and cutting edge videos and the budget is made at $99 or less.
The types of music they do are modern day music because it's teenagers that are going to be watching the up and coming artists. The labels that will appear on their you tube channel will be independent and the genres of music that will appear on their channel will be various genres because everyone has different music taste other music.
The relationship between the filmmakers and the music acts has is very organised because it's the filmmakers that do a bigger percentage of the work because it's the filmmakers that have got to go with the music artist to all the different location if it's needed even if it wasn't then they would still have a bigger percentage than the music act. With me saying that the music acts still have a big part because it's the music acts that have the the various locations in their heads thinking where it's going to be the best place to set the scene. They work together by blending their ideas together the roles of the music act is to express their feelings and the role of the filmmakers is to make the music video look fantastic with the technique of camera language with the limited things that's been handed to them for example an artist has idea and they have locations to set it in their head and then they go to the locations and this is where the filmmaker comes in because it's the filmmakers that film the videos from different angles.
The way the channel interacts with the audience is by them promoting there music and then the audience scrolls through the channels exploring different types of music videos in the playlists. Then they will share the music videos and it goes on from there and the music act get a bit of acknowledgement.
I do think that you can make a professional music video for $99 because you'll have to make it look as professional as you can with the little equipment you have then make it look professional when editing it. Although that's been said I don't think that you can make a professional music video for $99 because the equipment you might need might be expensive and you might want to get all different types of props and locations.

Potential Artist
Shuges: "My Time"
I would like to use this music video for my media project because I think that I can get a lot of ideas from this artist also I can find this song easy to lip-synch.
Melvillous - "Embracing Grace"
I would like to use this music video for my media project because I feel like this song is really humble and I feel like I can learn these lyrics quite quickly because I already know the song.
Theroy Hazit - I just wanna go home"
I chose this music video because I feel that I could use this soulful song to my advantage of because it's a song that has a smooth beat and it's more relaxed than the other two videos that I've chosen.

Dancing in the distraction factory: music television & popular culture
Andrew Goodwin is a college professor that wrote a well known book called "Dancing In The Distraction". This book was publish in 1992 and his theory was about how the song and the visuals were linked in a music video.
Illustrating
Illustrating music videos are where the music video directly corresponds to the lyrics for example Tupac - Dear Mama
I chose this example because it shows a clear example of an illustrating music video. Tupac - Dear Mama is a clear example because the song corresponds with the lyrics. An example of this is at 02:04 seconds where he says "I moved out started really hangin' I needed my own money so I started slangin'." This shows an imitation of him selling drugs. Another example of this is at 00:04 second it shows his mum in jail pregnant with him.
Amplifying
An amplifying music video is a music video that is used to enhance the style & mood of the song.
The reason why I chose Sam Smith - Stay With Me is because it's an uncomplicated example of an amplifying music video. Throughout the song the song is quite slow and the mood on his face shows that he's not very happy. At 00:56 seconds his face looks very emotional like he's about to cry or jump off a cliff. At 01:23 seconds it shows another example of the song because the song is slow therefore he's walking at a slow pace.
Contradicting
A contradicting music video is a music video that deliberately goes against the lyrics and mood or the song.
I chose Jessie J - Price tag because it's a contradicting video and I will back my point up by giving an example from the music video. At 01:13 seconds she's singing the chores saying "it's not about the money". Yet she has a money tree above her also she has gold necklace and rings on her fingers this could be visuals contradicting the lyrics.
Voyeurism
Voyeurism music videos are music videos where it shows females as a piece of meat as an object. Voyeurism is to get pleasure from the viewing of something.
I chose Benny Benassi 'Satisfaction' this music video was chosen because it's conspicuous that it shows females in a sexual way. At 01:41 seconds it shows a woman using construction equipment while wearing a bikini the heavy duty breaker is a symbol of a penis getting pushed into a hole and this is a clear example to back up Goodwin's theory.
Iconography
An iconography video is a video where you see little hints that tell you it's that type of genre. For example you might see expensive jewelry and watches and urban looking clothes this would signify a Hip Hop music video.
I chose DJ Khaled - They Don't Love You No More ft Jay Z, Meek Mill, Rick Ross and French Montana because it's a straightforward example of a iconography at 01:42 seconds there standing on so type of ferry and they're wearing urban clothes and they're wearing watches and also chains these a two fashionable icons in this genre which is why it is easy to tell the is the genre of Hip Hop. At 01:56 seconds you see bottles of expensive alcohol. At 02:05 seconds you see a basket baller shooting hoops which is again another fashionable icon of this genre.
Star persona
A star persona is about how the music artist represents themselves to the audience also it can show a different side of the artist that not everybody is used to or maybe have seen before. So the majority of the time it comes to a shock to the audience and you might ask yourself "what happened?"
I chose Mike WiLL - Made It - 23 ft Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J because it's a simple and plain example of star persona.
At 00;40 seconds Miley is smoking a blunt which probably shocked the audience a bit or they'd be shaking their heads and sighing.
At 01:08 seconds hardly wearing any clothes in these two examples it's showing how she's change from being a Disney childhood pop star to well I can't really find words to describe her.
Intertextual
Intertextual is where the they take certain scenes from a film and they put it in with the film that's in the soundtrack.
I chose this Eric B & Rakim - Know The Ledge because it's a good example for intertexual music videos. The film is called "Juice" and throughout the music video Rakim is at certain places of the film. At 00:31 seconds it show a scene where Tupac is in an argument with a gang. At 2:01 seconds one of the characters called Quincy at a party. At 00:19 seconds it shows a scene where the friends are playing basketball.
